British Gas homes plan returns

CONTROVERSIAL plans to further re-develop the former British Gas site in Solihull have been re-submitted.

A planning application was submitted to Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council this week for 117 one and two bedroom flats at the Wharf Lane site.

No details of the plans or application are available.

It comes after a May application from Taylor Wimpey and Bryant Homes for 136 one and two bed flats were withdrawn by the firms two months later.

Some residents had objected to the plans.

One wrote on the council’s website: “As a current resident of the area I am concerned that only one parking space per property is not enough.

“It is well known that most households have more than one vehicle and this will cause extra strain on the already full roads.”

A council officer and not the council’s planning committee will take the final decision by February 11.

Visit the council’s website to respond to the application. Comments must be received by December 3.
