Trying to picture this building but having to go back 30odd years is difficult:-( Is it near the Nags Head?
ReplyDeleteThe building is a mile south of Hockley Heath on the Stratford Road.
ReplyDelete30 years ago it was a modest house which has been 'chinzed up' over the past couple of decades with (in my opinion) rather more money than taste.
Glad there were no casulties & hope it is replaced with something which isn't trying to look as if it belongs in Beverley Hills....
It's a shame it's gone as I've often driven friends past it to point out how far you can go with money but no style.
ReplyDeleteI saw this house this morning on my way to a meeting. I had seen it before when it was in its full glory. I think it is terribly sad regardless of what people may think of the house. It is someones home and they must be devastated.
ReplyDeleteshame
ReplyDeleteDo not judge abook by it's cover the content is much more complex I hope the person who owned the property is able to pick themselves up after losing so many memories
ReplyDeleteLandmark property - only jealousy knocks it!! This house was a lottery win house!
ReplyDeleteshame Ive driven past this house loads of times but I was
ReplyDeleteabsouloutely distraught when I saw it had
been damaged. I hope the Asians who lived here can rebuild
this 700000 pound house to what it was before. What a shame :(
It wasn't a lottery winner house, and it certainly wasn't lived in by asians either!!
ReplyDeleteI used to look forward to seeing their Christmas lights every year. Such a shame.
ReplyDeleteAnyone know the cause of the fire?
ReplyDeleteWhy was this house fire not reported in the local press ?
ReplyDeleteI always said i want to live in this house when i grew up. Good job i didnt!!
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't a lottery win and it doesn't belong to Asians. The family are well known locally. There is much speculation about the cause of the fire but the probable cause was an electrical fault. The lady who owned it for many years died fairly recently and it was a good job she didn't see this devastation because she clearly loved her home and lavished much time, money and effort into its appearance.
ReplyDeleteI used to love driving past the house, i know its not everyones taste but i thought it was beautiful, and the owners took pride in this house, please hurry up and restore it back to how it looked before.

ReplyDeletethis house was beautiful and when people say it was tasteless they are mistaken
ReplyDeleteA sad loss. A testament to the owners that so many should remark about such. A landmark property that my wife and I looked forward to viewing as we passed by for over 20 years en route to Stratford. Our best wishes to the family.
ReplyDeleteNow been levelled...
ReplyDeleteAlways wondered what happened to the Pinner family off Just Good Friends.
We have always wondered what happened to this beautiful house and the people who lived in it. It was not our taste but you could see how much love went into it and we always travelled that route to look at it. What a sad world it is when people cannot appreciate the work and love someone had for that house even if it's not your taste you have too see the love.
ReplyDeleteEvery house tells a story
ReplyDeleteFusebox fault burns down whole house
this house was down to arson
ReplyDeleteowned by the broadhurst family who are well known
