A planning application has been made by Station Bar Cafe Ltd to use the former Station Approach branch as a cafe.

The branch closed in November with bosses saying it was under-used because of the use of telephone and internet banking.

Accounts were to the branch in Poplar Road, Solihull.

The letter told customers: “At HSBC were are constantly evolving and developing our services to help you do your banking at a time and pace that suits you.

“And with the growth of telephone and internet banking in recent years, this is now easier than ever which has naturally resulted in some branches being used less often.”

It states: “Therefore after careful consideration we have taken the difficult decision to close our branch at Station Approach."

Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council will have a final say on the new plans.

  1. Fantastic news! Bring some life to Dorridge!

  2. Great just what is needed as long as there are cheery staff who really know how to treat their customers.

Odd the planning aplications states there are no trees or hedges on the site though as I clearly recall some vounteers working on just such as these a few months back.

  3. great, hopefully something that will encourage the forest to lower its drink prices - absolute rip off in there!

  4. and yet I guarantee there will be some letters of objection from people. incredible...

  5. The bank was always useful if you wanted a mortgage facility in order to buy a round at the forest. No doubt the Forest will object to the licence application....
