Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council last week said Arden would open. Its list of closures has now been ammended.

Arden head Ann Green said: “Having assessed the situation and taking account of health and safety requirements I regret to advise that the school will be closed to children on Thursday.

“The Governing Body of the School regret the loss of learning for pupils but having carefully considered all aspects have decided they have no other alternative.”

Daylesford Infant School, St Anthony's RC Primary, St Mary and St Margaret's C of E Primary are the non-secondary schools to close.

Teachers are taking actions to changes to pensions that unions say will mean staff working longer, paying more and getting less when they retire.
