Record turn out for Festive Walk

MORE than 1,700 people turned out for a the Knowle and Dorridge Lion’s Festive Walk, surprassing previous events.

More than £7,800 was donated at Tuesday’s walk from Baddesley Clinton and it is hoped sponsorship will push this over £10,000.

It was the 19th time the walk has been held and this year raised cash for The Alzheimer’s Society, Crossroads Care, Dorridge & Knowle Scouts and other local causes.

Organiser Ute Smith said: “We were amazed with the incredible number of over 1,700 walkers who turned up for the first Festive Walk in good weather for several years.

“It is more than double the most we have had previously.”

She said: “We get lots of walkers who have joined us for many years bringing along their families and friends and it’s great to see so many people happy to donate generously to worthy causes.”
