A planning application has been submitted to 33, six metre columns to “to provide the cyclists with the necessary safety in after-dark hours of activity”.

They would be on from dusk to 9.30pm from September to March.

Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council will make a final decision on the plan. Click here to comment.

  1. This is a no brainer. It's a fantastic place to ride and anything that makes it safer to do so during winter months is a great idea. The Solihull CC youth riders will benefit hugely from the lights.

  2. It's good to see Solihull making such a positive contribution to encouraging bike riding and the use of the cycle track in the park.
It would be nice to see the Council taking a lead in encouraging more use of cycles for commuting and getting around the Town. 20mph speed limits would make all roads safer for cyclists and pedestrians.
