Solihull to celebrate Jubilee

SOLIHULL residents are preparing for a right Royal knees up with parties to celebrate The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

Street parties and other celebrations are lined up to mark the monarch’s 60 years on the throne.

Solihull’s first Jazz and Blues festival will take place in the town centre from Friday to Monday.

This will begin with a music at Jubilee Gardens, to the back of Touchwood from 4pm on Friday.

Performances will take place in Mell Square on Saturday with music from acts including the Fabulous Boogie Boys and Val Wiseman Quartet.

There will also be crafts, face painting and street entertainment in Mell Square on Saturday.

A free Diamond Jubilee themed Music in the Park event will be held in Shirley Park on Sunday from 2pm to 4.15pm.

And on the Tuesday (June 5) there will be a street party in the town centre’s Library Square with food, entertainment and children’s workshops.

The Friends of Knowle Park will hold the annual Knowle Park Festival on Sunday from 11.30am to 4.30pm. From 11am, there will be an "It's a Knockout" style contest. See details here.

The following road closures have been confirmed by Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council for street parties from Friday to Tuesday.
