Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council’s planning committee approved the plan for Bushwood Drive (below) and a back garden of 22 Temple Road on Wednesday night.

Some 14 letters opposed the Banner Homes plan (bottom picture) with concerns about “overdevelopment” and impact on surrounding homes.

But a report by a councilplanning officer recommended approval, saying: “The development would create a successful continuation of Buswhood Drive and is considered to be of an acceptable form and scale that satisfactorily respects the character of the area.”

It says: “The size of the proposed footprints for each plot are akin with surrounding properties, and whilst the spaces around each plot may appear rather tight…this again is not out of character with other developments close by.”

The council is also consider a plan to knock down 22 Temple Road for a replacement home.
