The conservation group previously ruled out a meeting on the revised plan for St John’s Close.

But it has now backed a meeting.

Kimberley Developments last week submitted three planning applications to Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council for the scheme.

This would put a store on the former bowling green in The Red Lion car park and move five nearest bungalows on St John’s Close to by the Royal Mail sorting office.

Extra parking would be provided in St John’s Close and Lodge Croft.

The society said: “The society will not be making any formal comment until these applications have been given a full and careful review by the society's planning committee, note taken of any comments made by members in person, by letter or on its website's forum and a public meeting is also held.

“Arrangements for the public meeting are being made and will be announced on this website as soon as details are known.

“Finally the society's trustee directors will review the results of all the above findings and will issue a formal statement.”

A previous scheme – which proposed a store on the site of the village hall, which would be rebuilt on the bowling green – was withdrawn.

The society objected to the scheme, saying it was too big, provides ‘totally inadequate’ car parking and planned replacement bungalows are not acceptable.

The new scheme proposes an extra 42 parking spaces on top of the 180 proposed in the last scheme. St John’s Close currently has 128 spaces.
