Fakes sezied at Clothes Show Live

ABOUT 700 fake t-shirts were seized by trading standards at The Clothes Show Live 2009 at the NEC.

Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council confiscated the items, right, from two stalls on December 4 and 9, it said in a press release.

The fake brands included Ed Hardy, Henley's, Ralf Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, G-Star and Abercrombie & Fitch.

The council said it had the full co-operation of organisers Haymarket Exhibitions Ltd and is now investigating.

Councillor Diane Holl-Allen, cabinet member for safer communities, said: “Fake items are misleading to consumers who are unlikely to get the product quality they were expecting and are detrimental to legitimate businesses.

“We continue to work hard to counter the sale of fake goods.”
