Fun run raises record £46,000

KNOWLE Fun Run entries are down so far this year because of the cold weather, ogranisers have said.

Nick Owen to start Knowle Fun Run

MIDLAND Today host Nick Owen will fire the starting pistol at this year's Knowle Fun Run, it has been announced.

The BBC presenter will be joined by Solihull resident and Team GB Hockey player Sally Walton at the May 12 event, to begin at Arden School.

The event celebrates its 30th birthday this year and will raise cash for good causes including the Marie Curie Big Build appeal for Solihull's new hospice and AgeUK Solihull.

THE Knowle Fun Run takes place on Sunday – and The Silhillian wants your pics for an online gallery!

Runners will leave the starting line at Arden School in Station Road from 11am for the annual fundraising event.

THE countdown to Sunday’s Knowle Fun Run has begun.

Fun run deadline looming

APPLICATIONS to take part in Knowle Fun Run have to be in by next Friday (May 7).

Some 300 places are left for the May 16 event, set to begin at Arden School.

Runners can choose between the five-mile main run and two mini runs for the under nines.

Bargain Hunt TV presenter Charles Hanson is the guest of honour.

The event will raise money for the Parkinson’s Disease Society, Teenage Cancer Trust and fly2help and other local causes.

Organiser Adrian Harris, of Knowle and Dorridge Lions, said: “Since we have been obliged to close the course to traffic for the duration of the Fun Run, 11.45am to 2pm, we have found that the Fun Run sell out each year.

“As usual we shall be welcoming runners from all over the country, not just the Midlands.”

KNOWLE Fun Run is seeking marshalls.

Organisers are looking for people to give up two hours on May 16. They will also need to attend a briefing on the Wednesday before.
