Lions raise record £67,000

KNOWLE and Dorridge Lions raised a record £67,000 in 12 months for good causes.

The fundraising group held events including Knowle Fun Run, which raised more than £40,000, and a Christmas walk, which raised £6,800.

A July Bikeathon from Packwood House raised more than £15,000 for the first time.

Cheques were handed to good causes in a presentation evening at The Greswolde Hotel, Bar and Brasserie in Knowle.

Its three nominated charities for the year - Teenage Cancer Trust, Parkinson’s UK and fly2help – were handed a total £32,000.

Fly2help provides flights and aerospace training to young people and families who have suffered traumatic events.
