Fourth bid for Streetsbrook flats

A FOURTH bid is to be made to knock down two houses on Streetsbrook Road, Solihull for ten apartments.

Piper Homes says the plan for semi-detached 503-505 Streetsbrook Road, by the Lode Lane roundabout, should be accepted by Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council because of key changes.

These include moving car parking spaces to the back, moving the proposed buildings and the introduction of a car port to cut down on vehicle noise.

In a report, it says the changes have been made in consultation with a council planning officer. Councillors could have the final say.

A plan for 11 and then 10 apartments was refused in 2006 and 2007 and a further 2008 plan for 10 was again refused and dismissed on appeal by national planning bosses.

The developer says the latest plan would make “better use of previously detached land and takes the opportunity to positively address the street scene and wider setting”.
