New group opposes Dorridge Sainsbury's

A GROUP has been formed to fight a Sainsbury’s plan for Dorridge.

Dorridge Residents Opposing Village Superstore is leafleting residents about the superstore plan for Forest Court, right.

It lists its concerns about the plan as:

● “The proposed size and scale of store is totally out of keeping with a village the size of Dorridge
● Traffic overload in the village,
● Inadequate car parking for a store of this size,
● Location and access to the proposed new doctor's surgery,
● The monopoly by one retail giant leading to the erosion of independent shops,
● Removal of established trees and greenery,
● Increase in pollution,
● The overall eradication of the village character.
● Trading will turn currently quiet Sundays into another gridlocked shopping day.”

Contact the group at drovs@hotmail.co.uk. Click here for more on the plans.

The plan will be decided by Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council.
