Casino decision as early as November

A LICENCE for a major new casino could be granted by November.

Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council, granted a large casino licence in 2008, says it will make its decision in November or December.

It says: “No specific site has been identified as the preferred location for a new casino premises.”

The council says its responsibility is to stop gambling ‘from being a source of crime and disorder’ and ‘protect children and other vulnerable persons from being harmed or exploited by gambling’.

The borough is one of eight areas set to get a casino.

The National Exhibition Centre has already said it will bid for the licence with a £90m scheme.
