PARKING is set to be banned from a Dorridge street to deter railway commuters – but it could take several years.Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council has moved to introduce waiting restrictions in Arden Road, to the rear of the station.

It is ranked 11th and ‘is likely to be processed in the financial year 2011/12, subject to emerging priorities’.
A council report said: “It has been identified that Arden Road would benefit from the introduction of waiting restrictions in and around its junctions to improve access and visibility.”
Yet it said: “However, it should be noted that following subsequent reviews the position of Arden Road in this priority list may go down, as other locations are considered which are assessed as having a greater priority.”
Some 88 people called for the restrictions and were backed by Dorridge and Hockley Heath councillor Ian Courts.
This said it was needed “due to repeated parking by commuters from Dorridge Railway Station”.
Residents said restrictions introduced last year in nearby Avenue road to cut down on commuter parking had pushed vehicles into Arden Road.
Police have reported vandalism to commuters’ cars.
