The car suffered ‘significant’ damage following the incident in the Warwick Road at about 2.45pm on Sunday.
The collision was so severe it broke off the lamppost which then fell across the road.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “Crews arrived to find a car which had left the road, mounted the pavement and collided with a large lamppost.
“The car had suffered significant front end damage and the lamppost had been uprooted and was lying across the road and pavement.
“The driver and passenger of the car, a husband and wife in their 70s, were miraculously out of the badly damaged car and were sitting on a grass verge.”
They said: “Both were visibly shaken and were assessed by crews at the scene but, remarkably, were found to have suffered no apparent injuries.
“Due to the extent of the damage caused in the crash the couple were immobilised with a neck collar and spinal board as a precaution and were taken to Heartlands Hospital.
“Given that the lamppost landed across the road and pavement, it was extremely lucky that no one was injured.”
