Knowle Society rules out Waitrose modifications

THE Knowle Society has refused to heed calls from some members to work with a developer to modify a controversial Waitrose plan for Knowle.

The conservation group said the call to work with Kimberley Developments was not ‘appropriate’ at this time.

It last week revealed it was objecting to the plan, for a store on the site of the village hall in St John’s Close.

This would be moved to a former bowling green by The Red Lion car park and ten bungalows would be re-located to make way for car parking.

A report from the society’s last meeting said: “Some members have pressed the society to engage with Kimberley Developments on possible changes to its current planning application.

“The TDs did not consider that this was the appropriate action at this time but would ask Kimberley if it wished to consider such a move.”

Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council’s planning committee will decide whether the plan can go ahead. No date has been set.
