Council chiefs agreed the reduction for between the M42 roundabout to where it forks into a slip road connecting to the Warwick Road into Solihull.
Some 24 responses supported the by-pass plan while nine opposed it.
Some objections questioned the extent to which speed played a part in collisions.
One said ‘money would be better spent elsewhere and that drivers may be unaware of 30mph speed limits where there are no repeater signs’.
A council report said: “Having considered all representations, it is considered that the safety, environmental and economic advantages of the speed limit changes outweigh the disadvantages.”
The council was told to review all A and B roads by the Government.
