A KNOWLE nursery has been told make safety improvements after an inspector raised concerns about the security of the playground.An unannounced Ofsted inspection also said it was unhappy with unprotected electric socket covers and nettles in the garden at Lady K Care and Play in Fen End Road.

The inspectorate said it received information on April 28 ‘that raised concerns about the registration, which may impact on the care provided to children’.
It said: “We carried out an unannounced visit to the setting and found that the provider had not made adequate arrangements to ensure the security of the outdoor play area.
“We also identified that some electric socket covers were unprotected and nettles were growing in the garden. We sent the provider a notice to improve that asked them to.”
The play group, which is based at Lady Katherine Leveson School, above, right, was told to provide gates with self-closing mechanisms.
It was also told to ‘take all reasonable steps to protect the children from hazards such as electric sockets and nettles in the garden’.
Ofsted said: “We will monitor the provider to ensure the actions are successfully completed.”
