It is the most significant stage of a £31m redevelopment of the campus and will provide facilities for fine art, graphic design, photography, performing arts and fashion students.

Peter Lauener, chief executive of the Young People’s Learning Agency, cut the ribbon at a launch event also attended by Solihull MP Lorely Burt.

Principal Brenda Sheils said: “The opening of the Art Centre marks a milestone in our continued redevelopment.

“We hope that the many students who study with us, currently and in the future, enjoy the exciting facilities that our new Centre boasts.”

A management centre with conference and training facilities is the next stage of the redevelopment and will be completed next month.
