A CHILDCARE facility has been told by inspectors to show more ‘positive images’ and ‘challenge thinking’ around gender and ethnicity for under fives.

Ofsted said Bentley Heath’s Crossover Childcare Ltd was ‘good’ and had a ‘child-centred environment where they feel safe and supported by the staff’.
But it called on it to ‘provide more positive images and resources that challenge children's thinking and help them embrace differences in gender, ethnicity, language, religion, special educational needs and disabilities’ for Early Years age groups, birth to five.
It should also ‘ensure information is obtained about who has legal contact with the child, and who has parental responsibility for the child’.
The inspectors’ report said “The well-organised planning, developing assessments and self-evaluation system significantly enhance children's learning and development.
“Children’s uniqueness and individuality is recognised and managed very well but, resources to support equal opportunities are limited.”
It is based at Bentley Heath C of E Primary School in Widney Close and provides care for all ages at the school and its nursery.
