Parking bans for Dorridge and Bentley Heath

DOUBLE yellow lines are to be introduced at Bentley Heath and Dorridge cul-de-sacs, partly to tackle commuter parking.

The lines will go at Westfield Close, off Manor Road in Dorridge, to deter train users.

And lines have been approved for Newbold Close, off Widney Road in Bentley Health.

Transport authority Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council said of the Dorridge scheme: “The proposals were in response to concerns regarding all day parking associated with nearby Dorridge train station affecting visibility, traffic flow and access.”

Two objections warned this would displace cars elsewhere. The council said this was ‘possible’ but the move was needed to give homeowners access to drives.

The Newbold Close plan followed concerns about parking for Widney Dental Centre, the report said. Part of the ban will only cover 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday.

Four residents objected, warning it would lose them parking and that the dental practice does not have enough parking.

The schemes will cost about £4,900.
