It opened at Greville Court on Tuesday and invited a Sainsbury's development executive Michael Adenmosun as a thank-you over the its help with the move.
The supermarket giant has bought the precinct and caused a storm of controversy over a store plan that would have knocked it down. It was rejected by councillors in March.
The school will now be known as DMS Knowle.
DMS Knowle’s headteacher Leigh Perry, pictured, said: “We would like to take this opportunity to thank Sainsbury's for their help and assistance in finding such fantastic premises for the school.
Michael Adenmosun, pictured, said: “As a Sainsbury’s representative I am honoured to have been invited to open the new music school.
“The new premises have provided a venue for the school to continue operating as the largest independent music school in the country and it was important to Sainsbury’s that the relocation was carried out with this in mind following the purchase of Forest Court.
He went to add: “Sainsbury’s new plans for the regeneration of Forest Court will be unveiled early in 2011 with a full public consultation exercise.”
