The Knowle Society urged Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council (SMBC) to create a site at the former Thacker’s Nursery in Hampton Road.
Yet the society said this was ‘dismissed by SMBC on cost grounds’.
There is a site at Jobs Close in the village yet this is not run by the council. Another association-run site is in Bentley Heath.
The council’s ten sites (see map) all have waiting lists as the popularity of allotments soars. It must provide sites by law.
The council changed its policy earlier this year in a bid to free up plots.
Applicants have to live in Solihull borough or 1km of the site, can only be on two waiting lists and are be asked each year if they want to stay on a list.
The Knowle Society said it ‘is now going to explore other creative methods of initiating community action on this worthy project’.
