The restriction will be in place from before the junction of Lady Byron Road and Station Road in Knowle through to the by-pass.
The restrictions will be in placed 9.30am and 4pm and then 8pm to 6am from next Monday to as late as April 2, though work could finish before this.
The work is to install traffic lights at the M42 at the exit slip roads and on the roundabout before the exit slips roads.
