The Widney Manor Road cemetery will be extended to the south, Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council's planning committee agreed this week.
A circular route will be created around the new site, above in red.
A council report said Robin Hood Cemetery is full, Woodlands in Coleshill will be full in four years and the 3,000 grave Widney Manor in 18 months
It said: “Widney Manor Cemetery has a large sphere of influence, as it is the main cemetery for the south, rural east and south centre of Solihull. It is used almost exclusively for the Borough’s residents.”
It concluded: “The proposed use of the site as an extension to the existing cemetery is
considered to represent an appropriate form of development within the Green Belt that will not be harmful to the character and appearance of the area, neighbour amenity, the health and longevity of existing important trees, the ecology value of the site or public and highway safety.”
