The 23-year-old victim was punched and left with four breaks and a fracture to his jaw and cheek bones on the right of his face.
The incident happened at 1am on April 22. Police only released the images and details last week.
The attacker is described as a black male, early 20s, 5ft10ins to 5ft11ins and muscular with dark, shaven hair and wearing a red, white and black chequered shirt.
DC Kate Fitzgerald said: "This was a nasty and unprovoked attack and we are very keen to speak to the man in this image.”
