The October bid to demolish 72 Lode Lane and 1 Hermitage Road for seven homes with access off Hermitage Road was thrown out by Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council.
The council rejected the plan last month as it had “poor urban design that pays little due respect to the local distinctiveness of the area”.
It added: “The proposed buildings by virtue of their orientation are considered to introduce an incongruous feature at this prominent corner site”.
It said the proposed layout of the site “does not provide for a good quality level of amenity for proposed residents”.
The appeal will be decided by the independent Planning Inspectorate.
