Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council will consider the 12 proposals, which would be put in place in the 12 months from April. There are 56 throughout the borough.
Many look to tackle problems caused by school traffic – yet others have not gone forward (see later).
Each has been scored in order of priority.
They are:
Knowle:
• Banning parking on the service road between Bonhams auctioneers and the car park at the back.
Dorridge:
• Parking ban in Arden Road to deter commuters (see report from yesterday).
• Restriction in Station Road to tackle parked school traffic.
• Extend restrictions in Manor Road on its western side and a short length on its eastern side fronting the church.
• H markings in Warren Drive for residents to tackle school parking.
Solihull:
• Waiting restrictions at the junction of Monwood Grove and Alderbrook Road to tackle school parking.
• Riverside drive: extend waiting restrictions to include weekend.
• The Spinney: introduce waiting restrictions for the full length.
• Cornyx Lane/Moat Lane/Yew Tree Lane/ Damson Lane/Wherretts Well Lane/Newfield Close: introduce waiting restrictions.
• Ferndown Road: waiting restrictions to tackle school traffic.
• School Lane: waiting restrictions to tackle school traffic.
• Beechnut Lane: existing waiting restrictions be amended to a total prohibition of waiting at its junction with Hampton Lane.
Some proposals were not taken forward.
These include concerns over ‘inconsiderate parking by residents’ in Pool Meadow Close, Knowle.
The council said it had ‘not been able to establish parking patterns that may cause a
road safety concern’.
Concerns that parked vehicles were obstructing the bus top in Poplar Road were investigated but this was not found and bus chiefs ‘have no concerns’.
Residents had concerns about all day commuter parking in Granville Road but the council said cars were ‘parked well back from the junction and none were blocking driveways or restricting access along the road’
No cars were observed when similar concerns were raised about Gladstone Road and Paddock Drive.
No further action will be taken in the following Solihull streets: Oaken Drive, Widney Lane, Sandhills Crescent, Westwood Grove, Alderbrook Road, Stonor Park Road, Hartwell Close, Damson Lane, Lode Lane Service Road, Orchard Avenue, Silverbirch Road, Middlewood Close, Mirfield Road, Links Drive, Dove House Parade.
