LEADERS at The Knowle Society are split over a Waitrose plan – but have reached a group view which will be released soon.It said its planning committee ‘held both extremes of personal opinion on the applications’ for St John’s Close.

The conservation group will release its final view on its website when it has sent it to Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council, which will make the final decision.
A developer wants to put the store on the site of the village hall, which would be moved to a former bowling green by the Red Lion pub car park.
Ten bungalows would be demolished and re-located in the area to make way for parking. An extra 52 places would be provided.
The influential society has so far remained tight lipped on its view and recorded views at a meeting it held at Arden School.
The group said the planning committee “came to a unanimous decision on the response that it was recommending”.
This was agreed by the trustee directors.
It said: “In addition to the official response there will also be supporting information from the society that expresses additional opinions which are not admissible as formal responses to a planning application but reflect some of the more subjective views.”
It said the society will formally ask the council about ownership of the land for the village hall and bungalows.
Hall bosses have said the council owns the land and could demand they leave, though they said this is unlikely.
The society said it will be ‘considering seriously’ creating a ‘village plan’ that would inform future planning applications.
