A SOLIHULL private school is bidding to put up eight floodlights and build a new synthetic grass surface.St Martin’s School in Brueton Avenue has submitted a planning application for the lights by a new hockey pitch and a 20 by five metre (65 by 16 foot) ‘practice area’.

The girl’s school said it was under an ‘obligation’ to provide the 15 metres (50 foot) columns as a condition of planning permission for the hockey pitch.
The hockey pitch can be used by outside groups if they meet certain conditions.

It said: “The scheme has been designed to minimise as far as possible unacceptable light intrusion beyond the boundary of the site.”
The lights would be timed so they would not be used ‘after an agreed time’ it says.
