The Tory newspaper spoke out as Liberal Democrat Lorely Burt fights to retain the seat she won in a shock win from the Conservatives in 2005.

It said: “In Lib Dem marginals, and in vulnerable Tory seats, the story is different.
“Last week, a poll for The Daily Telegraph found a swing away from the Conservatives in the Lib Dem seats they need to win.
“Anecdotally, there are fears that the Tories may actually lose seats to the Liberals: Eastbourne is said to be all but lost, while Guildford and Solihull are vulnerable.”
Maggie Throup hopes to win the seat for the Tories at the May 6 poll, where a third of Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council are also up for election.
Mrs Burt triumphed over Conservative John Taylor at the last poll by just 279 votes.
The council said this week that it would give out results live on social networking website Twitter.
