The Blossomfield Road college was named ‘good’ on a scale of inadequate, satisfactory, good and outstanding.
Its report said said outcomes are ‘good overall and improving’ and students ‘express strong levels of enjoyment’. There is a ‘friendly atmosphere’ it found.
Teaching is good and is ‘flexible’ to meet the needs of students, many of whom are studying alongside their jobs.
Partnership work with businesses is ‘outstanding’ and leadership is ‘good’.
Yet it said results for those aged 16 to 18 needed to be improved and all needed to be set a ‘good standard’ of targets.
It also called for the college to ‘improve the accuracy and rigour of self-assessment, especially with regard to the quality of teaching’.
Students also noted the ‘slow pace of learning in some classes’ and marking and some classes are too large.
