Rachel Hinsley, of the Solihull NHS Stop Smoking Service said, “The Facebook group gives smokers locally the chance to share their experiences, support each other and feel that they are quitting with others.
This could make a difference to whether or not they stay motivated.
“Facebook offers a unique chance for smokers to chat about stopping, their motivations and success stories in what is, to many people, a familiar way to catch up with friends.
“Stopping smoking is the best step anyone can take to improve their health. It will also save them money and potentially add years to their life.”
She added, “There has never been a better time to stop smoking whether it’s for the kids, to save for a holiday, improve your sex life or your general health.”
