WASTE will probably only be collected on main gritting routes today, council bosses have said.

Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council said: “We will also aim to collect rubbish from communal areas as far as possible (eg high rise flats).
“Recycling services are suspended until after Christmas. Please do not put out items for recycling at this present time.
“We hope to restore services as soon as possible and will also aim to collect any backlogs as soon as is practical.”
It added: “However this likely to be on gritted routes only.” Click here for a map of gritting routes.
And the authority said it has “sufficient” salt supplies. It boosted its stock by 1,000 tonnes compared to last year to give it 4,000 tonnes.
It said: “However salt is less effective when temperatures are below minus 5C so residents are being asked to take extra care.”
The council yesterday said it did not expect to grit overnight on Monday. Grit bins are being topped up, it said.
