The Knowle Society has asked its architects to look again at the circular shelter plan to replace the shelter at Station Road.
It said: “The question of windbreaks to address the prevailing wind at the new facility was being put again to the architect and a solution was expected using sustainable materials.
“It is hoped that this will address genuine concerns of members and the public who have viewed the proposed design.”
It added: “The new shelter greatly increases the capacity for people waiting for buses, up to 16.”
A post on the society’s website questioned the design.
And they said: “Granted, the current structure is not the prettiest piece of architecture in our village, but if we chose to demolish every building when it felt outdated then past generations not have retained beautiful buildings for us to appreciate today.”
But the society responded: “Luckily typhoons are not experienced locally and not even the wind and weather can come for all directions at the same time.”
The society has been awarded £1,000 from Jaguar Land Rover for the project.
A further £3,000 has been applied for from Birmingham Airport’s Community Trust Fund.
