Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust said deputy chief executive Beccy Fenton got £36,000 instead of £32,000 as reported by The Observer newspaper in April 2010.
The cash was paid to the £170,000 a year boss in 2008/09 for generating almost £1m of consultancy work for the trust.
In a response to a Freedom of Information request about the bonus, the trust said: “The figure of £32,000 which was released in April 2010, was incorrect, this was discovered as the result of a similar request received in July 2010.
“The correct figure for Mrs Fenton’s bonus was £36,000 for year 2008/09.”
The Observer said the bonus was the largest in a single year for NHS trusts in England since 2006.
