They said the £41,000 extension for 20 spaces would cost too much, would eat into green space and the car park can meet the demand most of the time.
Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council agreed to introduce double yellow lines on parts of the Warwick Road near the park’s entrance.
This will cover less of the street than first proposed.
A parking survey on a Wednesday and Saturday in June found the 74 car park spaces were full between 10.30am and 12.10pm on the Wednesday.
The Saturday survey found the car park to be full from 12.20pm to 12.30pm, 1.50pm to 2pm and most under pressure from 2.40pm to 4.40pm.
Some parked on surrounding grass verges and the end of parking rows when spaces were full, it found.
A council report said: “Whilst the data indicates additional spaces would be of benefit during these short time period, for the majority of the day there is adequate supply to meet demand.”
It said: “In view of the potential cost of extending the car park and the associated loss of green space it is recommended that no further action be taken at this time to extend.”
Yet it said “parking should be restricted on Warwick Road with parked vehicles affecting visibility in the vicinity of the bend and service road access”.

Solihull Ratepayers’ Association, which lobbied the council for changes to the Warwick Road parking ban, below, hit out.
Secretary Trevor Eames said: “The existing car park is inadequate with cars frequently driving round or waiting for a space and extensive use has been made of the wide Warwick Road to the parks frontage by visiting families along a section without housing frontages to highway.
“The pressure on the car park has also increased with the success of the Parkridge Nature Centre and cafeteria which provides a range of activities including children’s birthday parties.
“We accept spending £41,000 on additional parking at the present time is not a priority but object strongly to placing additional parking restrictions on the adjacent Warwick Road Service Roadway which is a no cost facility.
“Brueton Park is difficult to access by public transport and unlike many other parks draws visitors from right across Solihull and provides an inexpensive and attractive family leisure facility particularly in the summer.”
It said of safety concerns about the Warwick Road: “There isn't a road in the borough that should allow on-street parking and council officers waving the health and safety flag borders on the ridiculous.
“We are disappointed that a need for additional parking has been met with further waiting restrictions on the Warwick Road which will restrict access to Brueton Park.”
