THE Conservatives will bid to snatch back from Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council from a Liberal Democrat and Labour coalition at this week’s election.

The party is vying to re-take the authority when a third of seats are up on Thursday.
It lost the council on May 5 last year when Labour and the Liberal Democrats pooled their 26 councillors, the minimum required to run the authority.
The election, for a third of seats, saw the Liberal Democrats gain one and Labour two, giving them 19 and seven seats respectively.
The Conservatives lost two, giving the party 23 seats.
Conservative group leader Ken Meeson then branded the agreement a ‘grubby little deal’.
The Conservatives got 44,409 votes to the Lib Dems’ 32,997 and Labour’s 13,953 at the poll.
