It says the plan for Forest Court is too big for the village and would send too many delivery lorries, seven large and five small, through Knowle via High Street and Station Road.
The firm unveiled a plan for a 1,812sqm store (sales area) in January after Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council threw out a 2,462sqm plan in March 2010.
In its April newsletter, the society’s planning committee chairman Leighton Jones said the scheme is “an improvement on the previous one”.
Yet he said it is “still much bigger than it need be to serve Dorridge”.
He said: “It is the traffic issue that concerns us most as much of it (and all the lorries will pass through the High Street and along Station Road.
“We have declared our grave concern to Sainsbury [sic] over the potential impact of the traffic on Knowle and on the length of Station Road and have asked them to revise their plans.
“I’m not very hopeful though. We will have to see what the details of the actual application are before we can make a formal comment.”
Sainsbury’s has said it will submit a planning application to the council, which will have the final say, by June.
