Police are appealing for witnesses to the New Year’s Eve incident, which happened just before 10am at the Sharmans Cross roundabout.
A statement released today said: “The collision involved a pedal cycle and a silver Rover car.
The rider of the pushbike was a 79 year old man from the Solihull area, and the driver of the motor car was a 65 year old man also from the Solihull area.
“The incident occurred on the Sharmans Cross roundabout, at the junction of Sharmans Cross Road, and Danford Lane, Solihull.
“The cyclist suffered serious injuries and is detained in a serious condition in hospital.”
