STATION Road in Knowle will be closed for a week next month so a traffic hump can be installed by Arden School – but a speed limit cut is on hold.The hump will be installed on the pedestrian crossing outside the school during a closure from Tuesday April 6 to Monday April 12.
Only residents will be allowed into Station Road from its junction with Widney Road to St Lawrence Close.

The move is part of plans to make walking to school safer. This included controversial plans for cycle lanes in Knowle Park, which were later dropped.
The council said there was a ‘high level of support’ for the hump, known as a toucan crossing.
Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council has already agreed to have a 20mph limit between 8am and 9am and 3pm and 4pm on school days. It is 30mph at present.
Yet this is on hold as proposed illuminated speed limit signs do not meet Government guidelines, council engineer Taj Chagger told The Silhillian.
A raised table at the junction of Lodge Road and Station Road has been installed by the council with another in Lodge Road, by the park (see pictures below).
