They are planning a speed hump and raised table by the junction with Purnells Way so children can use a bridleway that connects to the back of the school playing field.

A proposed a new route through Knowle Park was dropped last year after uproar from residents.
Instead, a speed hump was built at the crossing outside the school and a raised table at the junction of Lode Lane.
Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council ruled out new lanes on Station Road or the pavement and a route through fields to the back of the school, to Stockton Close (see the map here).
The council also at first ruled out the bridleway plan. It was ‘considered not to be safe due to the bridleway also being used as an access road for several local businesses’
Yet it now says: “It has been accepted that provision of a speed hump near to the junction with Station Road would provide a means of slowing both vehicular and cycle traffic and hence reducing the risk of cyclists entering onto Station Road with out first giving way.
“A raised table on Station Road at the junction with the bridleway would also assist in reducing vehicle speeds on Station Road.
“The benefit of this route lies in reducing interaction of cyclists and motor vehicles by reducing the distance travelled on the public highway.
”It also provides a direct route through to Purnells Way which opens up access to the Tilehouse Green area of Knowle.”
The move would be part of a project to build a multi-use games area on the field.
The council is also pressing ahead with a plan to install electronic 20mph signs that would lower the 30mph limit on Station Road before and after school (see the map here).
